FAQs
What is three-phase power, and do I have it?
The majority of UK homes are 'standard' single-phase. Three-phase is a higher-capacity electricity supply found mainly on commercial and industrial premises, farms and some upgraded homes.
Only choose the three-phase model if you have (or will have access to) a red three-phase socket. If you're unsure about your property, a qualified electrician can confirm.
Will it work with my car?
Yes, if your car has a Type 2 charging port, which is every EV and plug-in hybrid sold new in the UK and Europe since 2018. If you're unsure, message us your car model and we'll confirm.
How fast will it charge my car?
Charging speed depends on the socket, the charger model, the adaptor plug, and your car. The full three-phase 11kW needs a red “five-pin” three-phase socket. The charger detects which adaptor plug is attached and sets the safe maximum automatically.
Your car also sets a limit. Some EVs and most plug-in hybrids charge on a single phase only, so they'll charge at up to 3.6kW from a red three-phase socket. Check your car's onboard charger rating in the handbook or the manufacturer's specifications.
What if I don't have a commando socket?
A qualified electrician can fit any commando ('CEE') socket for far less than a wall charger installation. That gives you up to 7.4kW from a 32A blue socket, or 11kW from a 16A (three-phase) red socket.
How do I operate the charger?
For detailed instructions, please refer to the user guide included with your charger. As a general guide:
- First, attach the appropriate adaptor tail to the charger until it locks securely.
- Plug the charger into a compliant mains socket.
- Use the dedicated tap buttons to adjust the current to your preferred level, and set the charging delay timer as needed. The charger detects the connected adaptor and automatically limits the amperage to its rating.
- Finally, connect the Type 2 connector to your vehicle’s charging inlet to initiate charging.
Do not plug into any other socket conversion adaptors.
Can I charge overnight on off-peak rates?
Yes, the built-in delay timer lets you start charging when your off-peak window opens, no app required.
What is the lowest charge rate the charger can support?
The lowest charge rate supported by the all-in-one charger is 6 amps (6A).
